Hi, my name is Kirby, I'm the head of Design for Witchery and I studied a Bachelor of Applied Science of Fashion Design and Technology at RMIT University.
We're always inspired by women and how they live day-to-day.
However, I do have the opportunity to travel a lot for work.
I think it's about taking all those inspirations and bringing it into a modern day.
We definitely see trends come back around.
I think it's really important how you make them feel modern for today.
You've got to trust your natural instinct and take your personal style on board.
It's always exciting when trends come back into fashion.
There's been so many incredible highlights in my career and I'm so grateful. One of them absolutely has to be becoming the head of design at Witchery.
The Australian fashion industry is so exciting and thriving.
My advice to people trying to break into the industry is to take any opportunity you can get.
I think just be authentic and yourself and connect with other like-minded people.
I absolutely loved my time at RMIT and it gave me such incredible skills.
I really loved connecting with fellow like-minded students as well as industry professionals who had such incredible experience that they could pass on to me, to set me up for the future.
I'm really excited for the future of fashion.
I think it's ever evolving and it's moving into a more considered space.
I think authenticity and brand value and purpose is also more important than ever with customers because they have so much choice.
I have such fond memories of the lecturers and mentors at RMIT, some of which I still have connections with today.
They brought such incredible passion and experience, and I think that was just really one of my fondest memories at RMIT.
