RMIT Council is the governing body of the University; its responsibilities are set out within the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology Act 2010 and include oversight and review of the management, performance and corporate activities of the University. The elected staff term of appointment is for a three-year period commencing 1 November 2024 and concluding 31 October 2027.
The elected student of appointment is for a one-year period commencing 1 November 2024 and concluding 31 October 2025.
All eligible persons may self-nominate by completing the online nomination form.

Completed nomination forms must be received by the Returning Officer no later than 12 noon on the 26 September 2024.

The Academic Board is the principal academic governing body responsible for oversight of RMIT's academic affairs across the RMIT Group. The Academic Board has established four standing committees that provide advice and support to the Board:

The elected staff term of appointment is for a two-year period commencing 1 January 2025 and concluding 31 December 2026.
The elected student term is for a one-year period commencing 1 January 2025 and concluding 31 December 2025.

Nominations for the Council, Academic Board and Standing Committee elections will open on 16 September 2024 and close on 26 September 2024.
Late nominations will not be accepted after the close of nomination period.
Candidates may self-nominate by completing and submitting the online nomination form before the close of nominations.
A nominee may, no later than two (2) business days following the close of nominations withdraw their nomination by notice in writing to the Returning Officer via elections@rmit.edu.au.
In the event of a contested election an electronic ballot will be conducted from 7 October to 14 October 2024.
