RMIT is committed to helping every student feel mentally healthy.
As part of that commitment, the university’s Mental Wellbeing Initiatives team is working with batyr, a preventative youth mental health organisation.
batyr was created and is driven by young people, for young people.
Through the batyr@RMIT program, it is working to smash the stigma surrounding mental health and help students feel empowered to reach out for support when needed.
batyr runs programs for students to help them look after their mental health, and make sure they know where and how to seek help.
These include classroom sessions, where a young speaker will talk to students about their experience of mental ill health and how they found the right support.
The sessions present a sense of hope – in that if others can make it through, so can I.
