Born in Bungaree, Victoria, Jane is very passionate about the dental industry, having worked around Ballarat in General Dental practices and Specialist practices including orthodontics and oral surgery for more than 23 years. Originally studying a nursing degree at university, she differed to land a job in dental nursing at an orthodontic practice. At which she completed her certificate III in Dental Assisting at RMIT, so her connection to RMIT goes back to 1999.
She then moved on to a general dental practice where she performed various roles such as practice manager and senior nurse, all between starting a family and having 4 kids. In 2017, she still loved the industry but was looking for more. With this passion in mind, she enrolled in Certificate IV in dental assisting (Dental radiography) at RMIT. Whilst it can be hard teaching an old dog new tricks, she rediscovered her love of learning, and that is where she decided to give back.
After completing a TAE course, she approached RMIT to she whether they had any room for an old dog that had learned new tricks. And here she is today, a passionate educator and Workplace assessor.
