Building

I've been a hairdresser for 10 years and one of my clients actually told me about the Diploma of Building and Construction. I was currently building my own house and I thought, You know what, I can do this. 

The flexibility of the course really attracted me to RMIT. 

RMIT has a really good building construction course and they are very reputable. I also felt like they encourage women to get into the industry. 

RMIT really encourages us to take work placements, they want you to try out different roles in the workplace to see what suits you and what the industry is really like.  

The course has already given me some career opportunities just by networking and I've already been offered some jobs. I'm really excited to take those up and see where it takes me.

A trade qualification opens up a wide range of opportunities and can set you up for life.

As we edge further into an automated world, we know that traditional qualifications in plumbing, refrigeration, electrical, and instrumentation will always require the hands on skills of a capable tradesperson.

Good tradespeople are in demand, with opportunities to work in the domestic, commercial, or industrial environment, or to set up your own business.

In the heart of Melbourne, CBD, RMIT has state of the art facilities, as well as its excellent support services offered to students.

To study your trade, you'll need to be employed as an apprentice with a training contract in place between your employer and RMIT.

On dedicated study days, you will learn the theory behind your trade, as well as the practical application of the on-the-job activities.

Trades are all about hand and human skills, problems solving, working in different situations, and improvising.  No two days are ever the same.

A trade qualification is something you never lose and is highly valued.
