This qualification has been designed to provide you with skills that are industry agnostic.

With knowledge and understanding of the key areas of project management, you will be equipped to take on a variety of different roles across most industry sectors.

Learning and teaching

The curriculum design for the Certificate IV in Project Management Practice has been informed by industry best-practice, ensuring you will graduate with the skill set in-demand by employers.

All teaching staff have extensive background in project management roles up to, and including, executive levels.

Classes are interactive and will provide opportunities for you to discuss ideas, practise new skills, participate in group discussions and group work, and contextualise theory through industry-relevant scenarios and case studies.

You will experience a variety of learning and teaching approaches including lectures, tutorials, workshops and client presentations. You will be provided with a variety of different assessment types that allow you to apply the learned concepts including group discussions, case studies and work integrated learning with real-world clients. This is supported by online activities such as blogs, discussion boards, quizzes and wikis to further enhance learning.

Ongoing assessment throughout the semester includes essays, reports, presentations, group and individual projects, case studies, client projects, tests and work-simulated projects

Learning at RMIT

The types of classes you have will depend on the course you’re studying. Classes are offered in various formats designed to provide meaningful engagement with staff, industry and peers and provide for access and use of spaces where learning can be applied and active, including an array of specialised equipment.

Most RMIT courses do not include passive large-scale classes such as lectures, instead the content traditionally provided in lectures is made available online. This may be in the form of readings, videos or other on-demand learning materials. This content will also support the basis of interactive learning that takes place in on-campus classes.

This certificate has been developed with extensive input from industry to ensure your learning prepares you effectively for current and future industry needs.

Professionals from the project management industry will speak in your classes to enhance your knowledge of the industry and give context to the theory and concepts you learn.

You will also complete work-integrated learning projects during the semester, giving you an understanding of the real-world application of project management skills. This practical experience will complement your theoretical knowledge and enhance your communication, problem-solving and self-management abilities to meet workplace expectations.

Guiding the development of this certificate is an Industry Advisory Board of high-profile industry-based project management executives. A project management advisory committee also guides the development of courses to ensure you are equipped with the most current, relevant skills and knowledge.

You will study three core subjects and six electives covering core project management skills, including:

In addition to tuition fees, you will be charged an annual student services and amenities fee (SSAF), which is used to maintain and enhance services and amenities that improve your experience as an RMIT student.
