Library Scavenger Hunt instructions

Complete all seven missions to learn how the Library and its staff can help you throughout your studies.

How the Scavenger Hunt works

To participate in the Scavenger Hunt you will need to:

  • Visit your campus Library
  • Follow the instructions we've provided below
  • Take notes and screenshots/photos on your phone to be able to answer the questions.

To be in the prize draw, complete all seven missions then fill out the form provided.

Choose your campus Library for instructions

Mission 1: Locate the Ask the Library chat service

If you are ever online and need immediate help with your study, the Ask the Library team are also online to help you with everything library-related, from locating information sources to questions around library site opening hours and referencing.

Your mission is to go to the Ask the Library page, locate the chat button and take a screenshot of the form you would need to fill in to start chatting to a librarian.

Mission 2: Speak to the Library Concierge team

Not sure how to borrow a book or print something at the Library? Our incredibly friendly Library Concierge team can assist!

Your mission is to find a member of the Library Concierge team (hint: they wear aprons and are usually located near the entrace to the Library), and ask to take a photo of the Library Concierge sign. Feel free to ask them any questions you may have about library spaces and facilities.

Mission 3: Visit the Study Support Hub

The Study Support Hub is a place you can visit to get one-on-one in-person study support from librarians and academic skills advisors.

Your mission is to find the Study Support Hub and take a photo of what topics this team can help you with (hint: check the whiteboard).

Mission 4: How many Peer Mentors did we interview?

Our peer mentoring program helps you connect with students, who have already completed the course you are enrolled in. They can give you useful insights and tips on the coursework you are studying.

Your mission is to watch the Meet the Mentors video on the Peer Mentoring page and make a note of how many mentors feature in it.

Mission 5: Get familiar with EasyCite

One of the important skills you will need to learn as a student is how to correctly reference information sources in assessments. Our EasyCite referencing tool makes it easy for you by providing instructions and examples for common referencing styles used at RMIT.

Your mission is to find the EasyCite page and make a note of the referencing styles it covers.

Mission 6: Use LibrarySearch

LibrarySearch lets you access the Library’s extensive catalogue of physical and digital resources. 

Your mission is to find a free computer in the Library, log in using your RMIT details and search for a topic of your interest using LibrarySearch. Take a photo of the search results.

Mission 7: Find the study room 514.02.011A

There are study rooms and study spaces on every campus Library. You can book them for group discussions, projects, presentation work, or to participate in online classes.

Your mission is to find Study Room 514.02.011A and take a selfie with the room number on the door.
