Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Alec Cameron said Notley’s experience and expertise in organisational performance, governance, strategic planning and administrative mechanisms make her an excellent fit to lead the Operations Portfolio.

“Fiona is known to be a collaborative and committed leader, with a clear focus on process simplification and the adoption of best practice to support the experience of staff and students,” Cameron said.

A graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, she holds a Master of Business Administration and is the current Chair of Universities Australia Deputy Vice Chancellor Corporates, Board Chair of Basketball Western Australia and the Non-Executive Director for Therapy Focus, among other interests.

Joining RMIT University presents a new opportunity – and a new city – for Notley.

“I am excited to have joined as we put our minds to planning for the next stage of our Knowledge with Action strategy,” Notley said.

As Chief Operating Officer, Notley will lead the Operations portfolio, which includes Data and Analytics; Enterprise Projects and Business Performance; Finance and Assurance; Governance, Legal and Strategic Operations; Information Technology Services; People; and Property Services Group.

“With its strong mix of critical functions, Operations really is at the centre of getting things done at RMIT. Our partnerships with the Colleges and Portfolios are integral to the delivery of our strategy and enabling the great work by others across the University,” Notley said.

“In 2025 we will bring the Operations team and our colleagues together to progress RMIT’s strategic ambitions, while also remaining focused on strengthening the essential day to day services we provide.”
