Plan your journey

The Bundoora campus is 18 kilometres north-east of Melbourne's city centre, along Plenty Road.

The closest Metro train stations are Thomastown and Lalor Stations on the South Morang line, and Greensborough Station on the Hurstbridge line.

From here you can connect to local buses and trams.

Yarra Trams Route 86 will take you direct from Waterfront City Docklands to the Bundoora campus gates. Get off at stop number 70 (Janefield Drive) for the West side of the campus, and stop number 71 (Bundoora RMIT) for the East side.

Bundoora campus is on Plenty Road between Bundoora and Mill Park. Both the East and West sides of the campus can be accessed from the closest major freeway, the Metropolitan Ring Road (M80).
 

Accessible parking

Bundoora campus has accessible parking spots available to valid Council issued disability parking permit holders.

Free bus service for students that will take you around Bundoora campus and the surrounding areas until late at night.

Not sure about the road rules or need a refresher? Before you jump on your bike, get familiar with cycling regulations and road rules.

Starting 10:15am, there will be a bus from Building 202 to the RMIT Health Centre at 30 Janefield Drive. The bus is free and will leave every 15 minutes until 4.00pm.

The Brunswick campus is situated 6 kiolmetres north of the CBD, and is just a few minutes away from Sydney Road. 

Jewell Station (Upfield Line) is 150 metres from the Union Street entrance to the Brunswick campus.

Sydney Road is serviced by the Route 19 tram from Elizabeth Street (City to North Coburg). To access the campus, get off the tram at Stop 21 (Glenlyon Road/Sydney Road) and walk west about 250 metres along Dawson Street.

There will be two free buses running between the City and Brunswick campuses on Open Day. 

Each bus will depart their starting location at 10.30am and loop between the 2 campuses on a 30 minute loop departing on the half hour. 

City Campus bus stop: Russell St outside Alumni Courtyard

Brunswick Campus bus stop: Behind Building 514 in the carpark accessible from entrance Gate D

Please note: there will only be one bus running between 12pm and 1pm to allow for driver lunch breaks.

Melbourne is serviced by a well-developed network of trams, buses, trains and airports.

The closest train station to most City campus buildings is Melbourne Central Station on the City Loop.

From Flinders Street Station, you can join a connecting City Loop train service or any tram travelling up Swanston Street (see below).

Most north-south Yarra Trams run along Swanston Street (routes 1, 3, 5, 6, 8, 16, 64, 67 and 72). For Elizabeth Street services (routes 19, 57, 59), get off at Melbourne Central and walk one block to Swanston Street.

If you’re travelling east-west along Flinders Street (routes 48, 70 and 75), Collins Street (routes 109 and 12) or Bourke Street (routes 86 and 96) alight at Swanston Street for connecting trams.

Many bus lines offer services connecting to train and tram services listed above. Check Public Transport Victoria for details of connecting services in your area.

RMIT’s commercial car park in Building 91 (110 Victoria Street) is independently managed by Care Park. Care Park can be contacted at cpsales@carepark.com.au or 03 9682 1733.

Car park is open daily 6:30am to 10:00pm.

If you prefer the flexibility of street parking, the City of Melbourne offers more than 3000 parking bays throughout the central business district. Please be aware that these parking bays are subject to enforced parking restrictions.

Not at all, Open Day events are available for everyone! Including students of all year levels. We even encourage you to bring your family and friends along too.

At Open Day, you’ll discover RMIT courses that will spark your passion and you’ll find inspiring hands-on facilities. If any questions come up that you need an answer for before Open Day, reach out to our friendly Study@RMIT team.

All our buildings have toilets across their floors. Some buildings have accessible toilets, which include extra space to enable navigation with a wheelchair. See our mobility maps for accessible toilet location.

Additionally, RMIT has 6 Changing Places facilities across our three campuses. Changing Places provide suitable facilities for people who cannot use standard accessible toilets. Changing Places provide:

  • a height-adjustable adult-sized change table
  • a constant-charging ceiling track hoist system
  • a centrally-located peninsula toilet
  • circulation spaces as defined in the design specifications
  • an automatic door with a clear opening of 950 mm at a minimum (1100 mm for beach and lake locations)
  • a privacy screen.

The locations for the Changing Places facilities in the City Campus are:

Bundoora: Building 202, Level 02, Room 415

Brunswick: Building 514, Level 01, Room 104

Note the facility in Building 80 is an early version of changing places and doesn't have the same facilities as the other later ones.

We know that Open Day can be an overwhelming experience, so we have created these stories to help you know what to expect on the day of the event in terms of sensory stimulation. They are also meant to help you become familiar with our campus before your visit. To do so, we provide lots of pictures and descriptions of how to get to some of the most relevant parts of campus.
