Make change today: launch your Circular Tech startup idea and lead the way in reshaping our future.

Our [Re]Launch Incubator and Pre-Accelerator programs are designed to accelerate startups with cutting-edge circular technology innovations. By creating a supportive Circular Tech startup ecosystem, we aim to generate a dynamic array of new solutions for Victoria.

With the support of LaunchVic's grant and in collaboration with our partners—Boomerang Labs Australia, Anvarta, and Lifecycles, we are set to empower early-stage Circular Tech startups. Participants will develop and validate new solutions against circular economy business models, paving the way for transformative circular and technological solutions.

Do you have a circular business idea?

Over 4 weeks, aspiring innovators will learn the tools and frameworks to create tech solutions to advance the circular economy.
""

Are you an early-stage circular startup?

Over 12 weeks, existing startups will be supported by industry experts to validate and launch impactful and scalable Circular Tech Solutions.

The program is open to anyone based in Victoria - and we specifically welcome regional participants! It is however a requirement for both programs to attend all face-to-face sessions in person, as well as the Pitch Night.

What is the circular economy?

A circular economy is an economic system aimed at eliminating waste and continuously utilising resources by creating a closed-loop system. Unlike the traditional linear economy, which follows a "take, make, dispose" model, a circular economy aims to keep materials in use and in their highest value possible, through strategies like re-use, maintenance and repair, refurbishment and remanufacture, and composting. A circular economy should also aim to regenerate natural systems.

To better understand the circular economy, consider comparing it to our current industrial economy, which operates on linear processes. Picture a vast network of conveyor belts where goods are produced, used, and then discarded (take, make, waste), following a straightforward, one-way path with a clear start and finish.

In contrast, the circular economy aims to transform this model by emphasising continuous resource use and minimising waste, creating a regenerative system rather than a linear one. A circular economy encourages us to rethink how humans live on this earth, and how we understand 'value' in the materials, goods, and natural world around us.

A graphic illustrating a linear economy. There are four circles in a row, with arrows between one, going from left right, the circles starting from the left say 'product', 'sell', 'use', 'waste'.
A graphic illustrating a circular economy. There are rings, with arrows indicating they are all moving clockwise and they all overlapping one another. There are also circles on the rings that say 'recycle', 'refurbish', 'use', 'repair', 'produce', 'reuse' and 'sell'.

What is Circular Tech?

We're looking for innovators with circular economy technology solutions utilising a range of innovations and tools designed to support and facilitate the principles of a circular economy. These technologies should aim to optimise resource use, extend product lifecycles, and minimise waste.

We define Circular Tech as: a product, service, platform, or hardware that is driven by technology, and either:

keeps materials in use at the highest value

designs out waste and pollution

or regenerates nature

Examples of technology that may be harnessed to create a Circular Tech solution include:

  • software / applications,
  • artificial intelligence (AI),
  • blockchain,
  • advanced manufacturing & robotics,
  • Internet of Things (IoT),
  • augmented / virtual reality,
  • 3D printing,
  • advanced materials,
  • genomics & life sciences (including biotech and medtech)
