Summary
The Cultural Value and Impact Network (CVIN) is building RMIT University’s expertise in interdisciplinary collaboration and inventive methods for articulating, measuring, evaluating cultural value and social impact. We will develop a national network through the hosting of research seminars, training and the delivery of urgent applied arts industry research.
In 2019 the CVIN activities were focused on mapping capabilities from across the University. We surveyed and interviewed membrs of the RMIT research community engaged in what broadly can be classified as cultural evaluation and value. From this, we launched a website at ACUADS 2019 and developed two pilot projects––the Heide Museum and the Cultural Development Network (CDN). In 2020 we have secured a ACUADS grant and will launch the Radical Thinkers Seriers in October 2020. Later in the year we will host a Methods Masterclass for HDR students. We will continue our pilot partnerships with the Heide when restrictions ease.
In the long term, CVIN will establish leadership in the area of cultural valuation and impact in Australia as well internationally.
