The Vice-Chancellor’s Professorial Research Fellowships is a competitive scheme advertised internationally on an annual basis.

Applicants are selected on the basis of their leadership, exceptional track record and international recognition for undertaking high quality research in one of RMIT's research priority areas.

2024 Vice-Chancellor's Professorial Research Fellow

Professor Evangelos Pappas

STEM | Health & Biomedical Sciences

Evangelos Pappas is RMIT’s inaugural Professorial Research Fellow, director of the MedTech Research and Innovation Hub and Professor of Musculoskeletal Health. His research utilises epidemiological, biomechanical and clinical tools for preventing and treating anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) knee injuries. He has presented his work at conferences and invited lectures nationally and internationally. Intramural and extramural grants have consistently funded his research, which has resulted in >150 peer-reviewed publications and >9,000 citations.

Evangelos received his PhD at New York University and held academic positions at Long Island University-Brooklyn, the University of Sydney, and the University of Wollongong before joining RMIT.
