Before your HELP loan or VET Student Loan can be approved, your Tax File Number must be validated with the Australian Taxation Office.
When you submit your loan application in the government eCAF portal, a validation check is completed to ensure that the following details on your RMIT student record and your Australian Taxation Office (ATO) record match exactly:
If your TFN can't be validated, we'll send an email to your student email account. To access a loan, you must complete the below steps as soon as possible.
Log in to your myGov account or contact the ATO to check your details held by the ATO. If your details are incorrect, update your details with the ATO immediately.
Log in to Enrolment Online and check your student record. If any personal details are incorrect, contact Student Connect immediately.
If your TFN can't be validated before your census date, your fees will need to be paid in full by the due date.
For more information, see the TFN factsheet on the Australian Government's website.
If you have a question about your loan application, contact Student Connect.
