Unleashing the Power of Giving: RMIT's Volunteer of the Month

Every month a student from our volunteering community is recognized as Volunteer of the Month for their contribution to different events.

We're pleased to share that the Volunteer of the Month for September is Deepali Parkash! Deepali, a final semester student of the Master of Analytics programme, was nominated for her contribution to and help within Kirrip.

As a Kirrip volunteer for the last couple of months, and her first volunteering experience, Deepali was extremely engaging and always put her hand up for activities.

"To develop myself holistically, specifically my public speaking and communication skills, I had to push myself beyond my comfort zone. Kirrip felt like the right choice to begin my volunteering experience with because of its fun and interactive way of initiating these skill sets."

"We had team-building activities within and outside the university and moreover, the people within the Kirrip community have been so warm and welcoming that it made overcoming personal challenges seamless," shared Deepali.

Deepali’s motivation to help improve student life has been outstanding. In addition to her efforts, Deepali has been a happy face for the new volunteers and a real help in making them feel part of the Kirrip Family.

As an international student, far away from home, you seek belongingness. That's why I decided to join [RMIT Kirrip] and become a part of a community.

Deepali was given an RMIT goodie bag in recognition of her efforts, which included a $100 RMIT Campus Store voucher, certificate of recognition, and a free 4-week gym pass! Her experience helped her grow as an individual, and she shared her best advice on why students should take up any opportunity at volunteering.
