Meet your Redbacks captains ahead of the UniSport Nationals

With UniSport Nationals approaching, join Redbacks captains Claude and Kurt in wishing our athletes good luck as they prepare to head to Canberra.

Running from 7-13 September, the 2024 UniSport Nationals in Canberra will see over 6,000 participants from across the country compete at Australia's most highly anticipated university sporting competition.

RMIT will be represented across 19 sports, including Lacrosse, Ultimate Frisbee, Tenpin Bowling, Cycling and more.

The Redbacks will be looking to build on their impressive performance in 2023, where they took home a host of medals on the Gold Coast.

Introducing your Redbacks Captains

2024 Redbacks captains Kurt Tchia and Claude Whittaker will lead over 180 hopeful RMIT athletes as they compete for gold.

Claude Whittaker

Claude is a Master of Architecture student and a previous Lacrosse gold medal winner at the Nationals.

She is looking forward to leading the Redbacks at this years' event.

"I am so excited to be your 2024 UniNationals captain," she said.

We're a big family at the Redbacks, so embrace that , cheer everyone on and keep the sportsmanship up!

Kurt Tchia

Kurt is an RMIT Beach Volleyball and also a Bachelor of Design (Digital Media) student.

His advice for students heading to Nationals is to go out and enjoy the week.

"Just have fun, don't stress too much," he said.

"Go into it with an open mind and be ready to make a lot of friends!"

"Wishing everyone the best of luck for nationals."
