Get support before your census date

Get support before your census date

Chances are you will need support at some stage during your studies, whether it’s for academic or for personal reasons. Seeking support early may help you avoid a more serious situation – like needing to drop out.

But the most important thing to remember before you make any big decision with your program is to be aware of what, and when your census date is.

What is your census date?

Census date is your key enrolment, fee, and HELP loan and VET Student Loan deadline. Every class has its own census date.

Census date is important, because if you miss census date you might have to pay for study that you do not want or need to do. (Yes, you read that correctly.)

Census date is not only the deadline for locking in your enrolment. It's also the date you must submit your loan applications by and pay fees.

For full details about what you have to do go to the census date webpage.

When is my census date?

To see your census dates:

  • Log in to Enrolment Online
  • Click Enrol
  • Select your semester and choose the Continue button.

You’ll see the census date listed for each class you’re enrolled in for that semester or study period. If you’re a higher education student in Semester 2 your census date will fall on Saturday 31 August, so make sure you get organised before the weekend!

You can also find census dates listed in your important dates

What kind of support is available?

As an RMIT student you have access to a range of support services, including:

  • Study support
  • Health, Safety and Wellbeing
  • Financial and legal support

We spoke to Katie Adler, from RMIT’s JobShop to better understand the career support they provide to students.

“Some students find that they don't like their program once they get here and are interested in changing. At that stage we can certainly support them by helping them explore all the different alternatives available, some of which they might not be aware of, so that they're making an informed decision more aligned with their overall career goals. We work closely with the Study@RMIT team who help students with changing their enrolment.”

We offer a massive range of career services, programs & initiatives, industry events, personalised support.

Head to the Career Centre - RMIT's careers platform to better understand all the career supports available to you.

You can also get help from within your school and college.

To find out about other support services head to the support services page.
