Beyond the Field

This year, RMIT brought something special to Nationals—a Redbacks-only challenge that sparked some healthy rivalry between our own teams.

Each team was given a mini plush Rupert toy to protect throughout the week, while trying to “steal” other teams’ Ruperts to score points.

Additional challenges, such as visiting Parliament House or trying a new sport, also earned points.

The winning team will be announced at the Redbacks Awards night—stay tuned!

“I loved doing the Rupert challenges and connecting with the other teams,” said one Redback.

It wasn’t just the athletes who had an unforgettable experience.

Media personnel Travis Palmieri noted that the trip helped sharpen his skills.

The experience helped me continue developing my ability to work under tight deadlines and improve my communication with the team.

The most entertaining moment of the week belonged to our mascot, Rupert the Redback, who stole the show in the Mascot race in his runner-up effort.
