Higher degree by research

Commencing international Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students can apply for RMIT RMIT HDR Scholarships and Research Scholarships offered at a School or College level.

Applicants completing high school studies

If you are an international student and:

  • Studying an Australian Year 12 or International Baccalaureate in Australia
    and
  • Receive an offer from RMIT for an Associate or Undergraduate degree.

International Current Students Scholarships

Irana Turynska Scholarship

For students who identify as a woman in their third year of the Bachelor of Architectural Design or first year of the Master of Architecture; worth up to $20,000.

Cultural Visions Grant

Supporting a RMIT student who wishes to realise an artistic project that explores the exchange of culture in Australia; worth $10,000.

Gavin Teague Memorial Scholarship

For students enrolled in the Bachelor of Fine Arts program who can demonstrate artistic merit and circumstances which impact their study; worth up to $1,300.

John Bush Memorial Scholarship

For Thailand born students studying full-time in an undergraduate or postgraduate by coursework program who can demonstrate circumstances which impact their study; worth up to $10,000.

David Phillips Memorial Scholarship

For students enrolled full-time in the ELICOS English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Program who can demonstrate hardship; worth $5,000.

Jacob and Charlotte Kahane Scholarship

For students enrolled full-time in the Bachelor of Communication (Journalism) program; worth up to $30,000.

RMIT Welcome and the Sam and Nina Narodowski Asylum Seeker Scholarships

For people seeking asylum enrolling in a vocational or undergraduate program.

School of Art Honours Travelling Grant

For art honours students who can demonstrate outstanding academic achievement; worth up to $4,000.

Some organisations and government agencies provide funding students to finance their study at RMIT University. Sponsorship programs enhance RMIT's social and cultural diversity.

RMIT welcomes students who have scholarship funded by their home government (sponsored students). RMIT currently has over 800 sponsored students. They are enrolled in a wide range programs in all study levels. Prospective sponsored students need to make their own enquiries about scholarship opportunities available within their home country or about potential sponsorship opportunities (such as funding from your employer to study in RMIT).
