The Privacy Collection Notice outlines the purpose for which the information is collected, and how we will use and handle the information. Please read it carefully before completing the application form.

Collection of Personal, Sensitive and Health Information

As part of your application to our graduate program we will collect your personal information and may collect sensitive and health information from you. This information is necessary for the admission process and to assess your eligibility for the program and subsequent employment.

Your personal, sensitive and health information will be handled in accordance with the requirements of the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic), Health Records Act 2001 (Vic) and any other applicable privacy laws.

All questions in the application form are mandatory.  If you are unable to complete a question, we will not be able to progress with your application.  Should this occur, please contact us on graduateresourcecentre@rmit.edu.au for support.

Types of Personal, Sensitive and Health Information Collected

The personal information we collect includes:

  • Your identity and contact details:  Such as your name, gender, residential address, email address, phone number.
  • Academic and professional work history.  Such as your academic transcript, GPA and CV.
  • Your statement of purpose or personal statement
  • Any other personal information you provide when submitting additional documents as part of your application, or in answering open text questions.

The sensitive Information we may collect, includes:

  • Languages spoken (may be a requirement of the job role, and could imply race or ethnicity)
  • Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Heritage (requirement of some roles being offered)
  • Visa information (if applicable), which will include your race or ethnicity.

The health Information we may collect, includes:

  • Any disabilities and/or reasonable adjustments you disclose, required to enable us to ask/offer you any necessary supports throughout the program.

Purpose of Collection

We collect this information to:

  1. Evaluate your application for joining the Graduate Program.
  2. Communicate with you regarding your application and its status.
  3. Facilitate enrolment into the professional learning program and program administration if you are admitted.

Use and Disclosure

  • Your personal information will be used solely for the purposes outlined above.
  • We will not disclose your information to third parties without your consent, except where required or authorised by law.

Storage and Security

  • Your information will be securely stored in our systems.
  • We take reasonable steps to protect your data from unauthorised access, loss, or misuse.

Access and Correction

  • You have the right to request access to and correction of your personal information held by us.
  • If you wish to review or update your details, please contact us.
