Business Global Innovation Challenge

The Business Global Innovation Challenge is an opportunity for students studying a  undergraduate program within the College of Business and Law (Including business double degrees) to compete globally and win a complimentary round-trip to Vietnam to participate in the finals, elevate your career and network across borders.*

This competition of a lifetime runs throughout a semester and offers the opportunity to showcase innovative business skills to solve a specific global challenge co-created with the University’s esteemed industry partners.

The Business Global Innovation Challenge provides those studying in Australia, Singapore and Vietnam the chance to collaborate with like-minded peers and aspiring entrepreneurs.

*The Business global Innovation Challenge also offers some students the opportunity to opt in Course Credit towards their studies.

The challenge statement

The Business Global Innovation Challenge serves as a dynamic platform for change.  Our vision for the challenge extends to a world where businesses serve as forces for good with sustainability, equality, and social responsibility as our guiding principles.

How might startup ideas support the economy in bringing forward innovative solutions to deliver an impact to accelerate the achievement of the SDGs by 2030?

You are called upon to build an innovative solution to address existing social and environmental challenges focused on one or more of five specific United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) below:

Participants are expected to identify a business solution and develop a viable startup idea that addresses it. The startup concept must embody qualities such as innovation, sustainability, scalability, and the potential to generate positive social change.

Eligibility and requirements

Participants must be enrolled as a current Business student in the following campuses:

  • Melbourne Campus
  • Saigon South or Hanoi Campus
  • Singapore Institute of management (SIM) Campus

Each team must comprise a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 people

All team members must be at least 18 years old or over to participate

Participants are required to have successfully completed one of the following courses listed in the table below:

Business Students (Including Business Double Degree) Law Students
  • Understanding the Business Environment
  • Business Decision Making
  • Business in Society
  • Integrated Perspectives on Business Problems
  • Macroeconomics 1
  • Prices and Markets
  • Business Statistics 1
  • Business Information Systems
  • Introduction to Management
  • Becoming a Lawyer in a Globalised World

*Please note Eligibility requirements will be checked and ineligible students will be notified.
