Work-Integrated Learning

The Work-Integrated Learning student placement program is a cornerstone of RMIT's approach to industry-relevant education and training.

Students gain the practical experience and work-ready skills they need to thrive in industry.

Industry partners can benefit in a variety of ways, including:

  • contributing to the learning of the next generation of recruits

  • building a talent pool of prospective employees who are familiar with workplace culture

  • providing existing staff the opportunity to learn mentoring and management skills

  • developing links and a partnership with RMIT

  • adding value through participation in research projects relevant to your organisation.

Work-Integrated Learning placements are discipline-specific and take many forms. Each discipline’s placement component is determined by the accrediting governing body and is often compulsory for graduation. Placements can be short term, long term or take the form of an industry-based student project.
