Verify a student’s qualification (for employers)

If you’re an employer or institution, you can verify a student’s qualification and conferral date via RMIT’s award verification service.

If you're an employer or third party employment/screening agent, you can verify a student’s qualification via RMIT’s award verification service.

There are three ways to verify a student’s qualification.

1. Graduate Verification Service (GVS)

The Graduation Verification Service (GVS) is a simple, streamlined way for organisations and employers to quickly and easily verify a graduate’s qualification claims from RMIT University. The database is comprehensive, with records dating back to 2005.

The service is offered by the same organisation that provides the My eQuals digital documents system utilised by the University for sharing qualifications digitally.

Please note that:
  • the date displayed is the conferral date and is not the date when the program requirements were met. Students who have met the requirements for an award, but have not yet had it conferred, will not be listed.
  • the surname and given name(s) of people within the database are recorded as at the time of the award. Therefore, if a person has since changed their name, you will only be able find the person with the name they used at the time of their graduation.

How does it work?

Verification requests are handled through RapidID, which matches against the GVS to confirm the graduate’s qualification claims. The graduate must give consent for this verification to be undertaken.

Once consent has been obtained, the graduate can provide their details for verification through a secure portal.

The process is as follows:
  • Using their RapidID account, an employer orders a verification check of the graduate.
  • The graduate is sent an SMS with a link to a secure portal, allowing them to provide their academic qualification details for verification.
  • The service will confirm if the graduate’s supplied qualification details are a 'match', 'partial match' or 'no match' against the University's records in the GVS.
  • The employer receives a notification of the verification result.

Is the service secure?

My eQuals is trusted and accepted around the world as a simpler and more efficient way to view, share and verify credentials. The GVS exists on the same platform powered by Parchment and is subject to the same security measures as My eQuals. Only authenticated University records are available through My eQuals.

Can a student opt out of the GVS service?

Graduates can opt out of the service. Doing so will remove all of the graduate information from the system for that particular student. If a student chooses to opt out and not share their information with the service, there will be delays in verifying the student’s qualification in the future. The student is required to notify the University via Student Connect if they wish to opt out of the service.

Need more information or access to the service?

Visit the RapidID website for more details and the My eQuals website to access the service.

2. Ask the student to share their documents

You may ask the graduate to share their RMIT authenticated digital version of their testamur and/or academic statements via My eQuals

If the graduate doesn’t have access to My eQuals, they can purchase their digital documents online via Student Forms.

3. Complete the award verification form (pre-2005)

For students who graduated prior to 2005, or if you need information in addition to what is publicly available (candidate’s name, award title and graduation date), please complete the Award Verification Request Form and pay the $35 fee.
