Enterprise bargaining: Professional and academic employees vote YES for a new Agreement

RMIT academic and professional staff members have endorsed the new RMIT University Enterprise Agreement 2024.

Last updated: 4pm Tuesday 15 October 2024

We are pleased to announce that our academic and professional staff have overwhelmingly voted in favour of the new RMIT University Enterprise Agreement 2024 (New Agreement), with 93% of participating staff voting yes. This is a legal document that outlines the terms and conditions of employment between an employer and its employees.

The New Agreement contains significant benefits for our community, including a 10% pay increase over the life of the New Agreement (in addition to policy pay increases already paid over the past two years), a range of leave enhancements, increased Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural leave and employment targets, and a commitment to reducing the use of casual academic employment.

The next step is to lodge the New Agreement with the Fair Work Commission (FWC) for approval. The New Agreement will commence operation seven days after approval by the FWC. Once it commences operation, staff will be able to enjoy the new conditions of the New Agreement.

We thank you for your patience as we have managed the bargaining process.
