Bottles | Outcomes | Total Distance travelled (Km) | Number of days in waterway (D) |
Bottle 1 | Landed on the bank of Merri Creek | 5.02 | 48 |
Bottle 2 | In Merri Creek trapped in riparian vegetation | 3.37 | 3.4 |
Bottle 3 | Collected from the creek and recycled during a Merri Creek maintenance event | 3.86 | 70 |
Bottle 4 | Landed at Herring Island 18.7.19 | 16.2 | 79 |
Bottle 5 | In litter trap in the Yarra | 18 | 36 |
Three of the litter trackers launched at Merri Creek travelled to the Yarra. The other two remained in Merri Creek. In the Yarra, one of the trackers travelled upstream and downstream before landing on Herring Island and the other was captured by a litter trap in the Yarra. This shows that litter entering Merri Creek has the potential to travel to the Yarra and contribute to the litter problem in the Yarra.
