Business Directory FAQs

Answers to common questions about the RMIT Alumni Business Directory.

A: The RMIT Alumni Business Directory is a new online platform hosted on RMIT’s website where alumni-owned business can list their products or services. This will help them to create awareness for their business, grow their customer base and provide exclusive discounts & offers to fellow alum.

A: The Business Directory is available exclusively to RMIT Alumni, and each submission will be checked to ensure it is owned by an RMIT alum.

A: Everyone can browse the directory; however, any special discounts, offers or promotion are exclusive to RMIT alumni and will require a login to be visible.

A: So long as the RMIT Alumni is an active owner of the business we will accept this listing. We won’t publish any businesses where the alumni’s connection is an employee or shareholder.

A: Yes! International businesses can submit offers to be listed on the directory. However, we recommend that these businesses be able to provide services or products online to ensure that they and our alumni are getting the most out of the directory.

A:  There are many benefits:

  • This platform will help alumni to create awareness and build their customer base by leveraging RMIT’s large audience (520,00 alumni globally)
  • Give back to fellow alumni by offering a special discount or other offers
  • The directory will showcase the vast array of industries where alumni are successfully working, and we’ll share their stories across other digital channels to broaden the reach

A: To list your business on the directory, you can submit the listing request form. Note that there are terms and conditions your business must meet to be eligible for listing. Primarily, you must be an owner/operator of the business, and it must align with RMIT’s values.

A: There is no obligation to provide an offer, however, those that do will be considered for further promotion across our other digital channels such as email newsletters and social media. Those with offers may also be highlighted at the top of the directory.

A: The submission form will step you through the information needed to build the listing, however, it is worth thinking about writing a strong description for your business and providing a logo to help build brand awareness. Your listing will need to link to a social media page or a website so fellow alumni can find out some more information about your business.

A: To amend or remove your listing, you can resubmit the listing request form selecting, update listing or remove listing. For more specific questions about listings you can contact us directly at business.directory@rmit.edu.au

A: You’ll need to login when you click on any of the exclusive offers. You’ll be prompted to enter your RMIT ID or email, and your password. Your RMIT ID can be found at the bottom of recent alumni communications. For assistance logging in, visit the alumni online access page.

A: Businesses are responsible for creating the process for claiming and validating the special offer or discount as we cannot share any alumni data or administer the offers on the RMIT website. Some common methods used are providing offer codes such as ‘RMITALUM24’ or presenting the offer page on a mobile device when in person.

A: All offers and listings remain on the directory indefinitely unless an expiry date is provided. However, a yearly review process is conducted for offers without an expiry to ensure that they are still current and valid.

A: When your offer expires, the offer component of your listing will be removed, and we will simply display your business details on the directory with other businesses that do not have a current offer.

A: The RMIT Alumni Business Directory is run by the RMIT Alumni Team. If you have any questions about the directory, you can reach us at business.directory@rmit.edu.au.
