Professor Claire Macken is the Associate Deputy Vice Chancellor (Learning and Teaching) in the College of Business and Law at RMIT University in Australia. She offers dynamic, future-focused leadership in learning and teaching, with a focus on digital learning, the future of work, blended, active and authentic learning and student engagement. Professor Macken has previously held various senior roles in Australian Universities, including as Pro Vice-Chancellor (Innovation and Future Learning) and Director of Online and Blended Learning at La Trobe University, and as an Associate Dean (Teaching and Learning) in the School of Law at Deakin University. Professor Macken is a nationally-award winning teacher, with an Australian Award for Teaching Excellence, and an Australian Citation for her work in relation Student Engagement. Professor Macken holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), a Master of Business Administration, a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education, Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Law degrees with Honours.
Professor Macken has held industry roles, including as a Director of Education at KPMG, and also at Apple, leading Higher Education and Industry.
Professor Macken's research primarily focuses student learning and experience in higher education, blended learning, curriculum design and the meaningful intersections of technology, education and industry.
