About

Dessalegn is a Deputy Head of the Department of Accounting and an Associate Professor at the School of Accounting, Information Systems and Supply Chain. Previously, he held full-time academic positions at Addis Ababa University (Ethiopia), University of New England (Australia) and Deakin University (Australia). Before starting his academic career, Dessalegn served in accounting roles in the business sector in Ethiopia. Currently, Dessalegn teaches auditing, assurance and forensic accounting courses.

Dessalegn successfully supervised four PhD candidate (at RMIT University) and co-supervised three PhD candidates (one at Deakin University and two at the University of New England). He has also served as a PhD thesis examiner for universities in Australia and internationally. Dessalegn's areas of research include auditing, accounting professionalisation, accounting regulation and corporate reporting.

Dessalegn has published scholarly articles in leading international journals including Accounting, Organizations and Society; Accounting, Auditing & Accountability Journal; Accounting History; Critical Perspectives on Accounting; International Journal of Auditing; Journal of Business Research; Journal of Business Ethics; Managerial Auditing Journal; Accounting & Finance; and Pacific-Basin Finance Journal.
