About

Sonia worked in the insurance industry then undertook further study in education after which she worked in the TAFE sector for approximately 9 years in a combination of teaching and program co-ordination roles.  She also worked in the private sector undertaking bookkeeping and accounting roles while doing sessional lecturing and tutoring in the higher education sector prior to joining RMIT University as a lecturer in accounting in 2004. Sonia has a PhD in accounting education and a strong interest in accounting education, accounting history and the scholarship of teaching and learning.

Teaching interests

Sonia has coordinated and taught across many courses in both undergraduate and postgraduate programs across different locations. Her teaching is focused on financial accounting courses predominantly. Sonia currently coordinates Accounting in Organisations and Society (UG, in Melbourne and Singapore) and Corporate Accounting (PG, in Melbourne). Sonia also teaches in Accounting, Accountability and Society in the accounting undergraduate program. Sonia has also under WIL mentor visits with students who are completing a year of work in industry under the WIL program.
