International education partners

RMIT partners with institutions around the world to help you to gain credit for prior study. These are agreements between international education providers and RMIT University to award certain amounts of credit transfer points towards your new program at RMIT, in recognition of education you have already completed.

Eligibility

Find out if your institution has a partnership agreement with RMIT to see if you can receive credit and reduce your study time. If your institution is not listed you may still be eligible and credit options will be assessed on an individual basis.

Example: Joint study partnership

Li has been studying the Bachelor of Engineering at a university in China for 2 years. His university has a partnership with RMIT that allows him to complete the last 2 years of his course at RMIT. He completes his degree with RMIT's Bachelor of Applied Science (Construction Management) (Honours).

Example: Credit transfer

Miku is studying a Graduate Certificate of Corporate Communication in Canada and is interested in continuing her studies with a Masters degree. Her college has a partnership with RMIT which allows her to receive credit and complete her Master of Communication at RMIT in just 1.5 years.

Transfer within Australia

If you are currently enrolled at an Australian university, you may be eligible for credit transfer to RMIT University after you successfully complete your first year studies.

Eligibility

RMIT recognises and awards credit transfer points for credit earned at another Australian university where the completed course has an equivalent at RMIT within your new program. You will need to meet the English requirements. Please refer to RMIT  English requirements for detailed information. Find out if there are credit assessment options for your course/degree at specific Australian institutions below.

Please note: This search is designed for specific Australian institutions and courses/degrees. If your institution or course/degree is not available on this page, please submit your RMIT application as you may still be eligible for credit transfer and applications will be individually assessed.

Example: Australian university transfer

Steve is currently studying Information Technology (IT) at another university in Australia, but now would like to study a different course at RMIT. When applying, he is eligable to receive 96 credit points towards RMIT's Bachelor of Information Technology for completing his first year at his other university.This allows him to complete his new degree at RMIT in just 2 years, instead of taking an additional 3 years.

Pathways within RMIT

Pathways at RMIT provide a way for you to progress to further studies once you complete your initial program. There might be pathway options that provide guaranteed entry and credit for prior study that can help reduce your study time. Pathways usually begin with a vocational qualification that leads to an undergraduate degree.

Pathway options for international students

Foundation studies

RMIT Foundation studies is designed for international students and can guarantee entry into degree and associate degree programs.

Vocational education

Vocational Education certificates, diploma and advanced diplomas help you gain practical skills and provide credit towards RMIT degrees.

Associate degrees

An associate degree is a two-year undergraduate university program that may give you credit towards a related RMIT bachelor degree.

English language skills

As an international student, you will need to meet English requirements. RMIT UP language courses can help you to improve your English.

Foundation to future - Fabio's RMIT Pathway

After completing Foundation Studies, Fabio Hutagalung was able to gain direct entry into the Bachelor of Design (Communication Design).
