Fanposium: Celebrating Taylor Swift's cultural revolution at RMIT University

On 11 February 2024 RMIT University hosted Fanposium, an event celebrating Taylor Swift's cultural impact with presentations, a documentary screening, and expert panel discussions.

This event highlighted Swift's evolution as a songwriter, performer, and empowered woman, reaffirming her status as a remarkable cultural icon. It brought together cultural studies researchers, music industry experts, and devoted fans to explore Swift's influence, reaffirming and celebrating her status as a cultural icon.

Engaging discussions and insights

Taking place at RMIT's prestigious venue, The Capitol, the Fanposium began with fan presentations, followed by a screening of the insightful documentary "Miss Americana". Over the course of three hours, attendees engaged in presentations from Taylor's fans and participated in an expert panel discussion moderated by Kate Pattison, an RMIT fan studies expert and music industry PhD candidate known for her Swift-focused research, fostering insightful dialogues about Swift's contributions to gender, fandom, popular culture, and the music industry.
