PhD Scholarship in the Normative Design and Evaluation of News Recommendation Systems

To be considered for the PhD Scholarship, applicants must meet the Eligibility criteria and English requirements as described on the How to Apply page, and should meet the selection criteria.   

To be considered for the PhD Scholarship, applicants must meet the Eligibility criteria and English requirements as described on the How to Apply page, and should ideally meet the selection criteria below:

  • demonstrate expertise in research on the news media sector and/or automated technologies. 
  • demonstrate knowledge of and entry-level experience with qualitative and quantitative research, in particular interviews, observational research, and experimental design. 
  • demonstrated previous interest in or knowledge of key aspects of media policy such as the role of public service media, or concepts like media diversity. 
  • Proven ability to work in teams and contribute ideas; 
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills;

  • A cover letter (outlining interest and alignment with the proposed research, and addressing the selection criteria)

The successful candidate will be supported to develop a formal PhD application to RMIT. Scholarship applications will only be successful if prospective candidates are provided with an offer for admission from RMIT University.

The scholarship is open to a variety of disciplines, but prospective applicants should consider the selection criteria closely when considering research fit.
