The artwork is a 4.2m long textured fabric artwork sewn from the calico which previously lined the Sustainability Hub at RMIT's City Campus. Rachel is busy sewing the painted calico now and can't wait to share the final artwork with you.

*In response to suggestions by d/Deaf and Disabled students, this launch event will happen one week before HE Orientation 2025.
Over three weeks in July 2024, the room was covered in calico, and students left painted tracks behind as they navigated the space.
For d/Deaf and Disabled students, it was a space of "freedom". For the wider student community, it was a challenge to try and follow a map that did not reflect the room. Finally, performer Caitlin Dear explored time and brought the two stages together. Each stage of Metropolis is a playful contemplation of urban spaces - both in the present and future.
Metropolis will be installed on City Campus near Standing Room Cafe.
