This project focuses on evaluating two parts of the new Centre’s approach to supporting and working with families and carers of people who experience mental distress in the western suburbs of Melbourne.
Jesuit Social Services have been funded by the Victorian Department of Health to establish a Mental Health and Wellbeing Connect Centre in the western metropolitan region of Melbourne. Eight family and carer focussed centres have been funded in response to recommendations from the Victorian Royal Commission into Mental Health. The Centres have been co-designed with people with lived experience, including families and carers. The centres aim to provide better support to the families, carers and supporters of people experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges. This evaluation focuses on the unique offering of JSS and how the Centre and associated programs are perceived by families, carers and supporters.
