Mia Lindgren

Adjunct Professor Mia Lindgren is a globally recognised authority in podcast, radio and journalism studies with positions on several editorial boards and scientific committees.

Her practice-led research is developed through podcasts, documentaries, and websites created in partnership with academics, media organisations, and audio producers. She has secured five competitive national grants (ARC LP & DP; NHMRC) for her work on digital storytelling for sense-making in public health issues.

Professor Lindgren is co-editor (with Jason Loviglio) of Q1-ranked Radio Journal: International Studies in Broadcast and Audio Media (Intellect) and Routledge Companion to Radio and Podcast Studies (2022). She also serves as Co-Chair of IAMCR's Working Group Music, Audio, Radio and Sound.

She brings extensive leadership experience in Higher Education across multiple Australian universities, having served as Founding Head of School of Media Film and Journalism at Monash University, Dean of Social Sciences, Media, Film and Education at Swinburne University of Technology, and Associate Dean Research in the College of Arts, Law and Education at University of Tasmania. Professor Lindgren champions innovation in research excellence and learning & teaching. She is an advocate for humanities, arts and social sciences (HASS) and is passionate about the power of collaboration and mentorship.
