About

Dmitry Ryvkin is a professor of Economics at RMIT University, where he joined the School of Economics, Finance and Marketing in 2023. Dmitry has been serving as director of the Behavioural Business Lab (BBL)---an interdisciplinary research group whose members combine the methods of experimental economics, psychology and behavioural insights to study how human decision making is influenced by psychological, social or cognitive factors as well as emotions and culture. Dmitry holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Center for Economic Research and Graduate Education - Economics Institute (CERGE-EI) in Prague, as well as a Ph.D. in Physics from Michigan State University in East Lansing. Prior to joining RMIT, Prof. Ryvkin was a Bernard F. Sliger Professor of Economics at Florida State University.

Teaching interests

Prof. Ryvkin has taught a variety of undergraduate and graduate level courses in microeconomics, game theory, and data analysis and quantitative methods.

Research interests

In his research, Prof. Ryvkin combines theory and laboratory experiments to address a diverse set of questions in applied microeconomics. His topics of interest include incentives in organisations, corruption and adverse behaviours, political economy, overconfidence, and games with dynamic externalities. His recent work is on the optimal structure of incentives in contests, strategic default setting by firms, and clean technology investment.
