On completion of this certificate you satisfy the educational requirements for membership of a professional association such as Career Development Association of Australia (CDAA), CICA.

This certificate is delivered online allowing you to meet and study with fellow students, all the while supported by a dedicated course leader who is responsible for guiding you through all aspects of your study.
You are able to structure your study part time over 12 months to fit with your own career and life commitments. Our student intake is kept small to ensure that we can provide you with a personalised learning experience based on your unique needs and interests.
You will experience a variety of contemporary and interactive learning and teaching approaches. You won't attend lectures; all your classes will be in the form of small group learning environments and workshops, giving you a hands-on and inclusive experiences from day one.
Learning and teaching activities focus on the practical application of career development competencies supported by industry placements, work based learning opportunities and a three-day workshop in Melbourne or an online workshop run over five weeks as part of an intensive.
All subjects are delivered in English.
Ongoing assessment throughout the semester includes essays, reports, presentations, group projects, research projects and practical assignments.
The types of classes you have will depend on the course you’re studying. Classes are offered in various formats designed to provide meaningful engagement with staff, industry and peers and provide for access and use of spaces where learning can be applied and active, including an array of specialised equipment.
Most RMIT courses do not include passive large-scale classes such as lectures, instead the content traditionally provided in lectures is made available online. This may be in the form of readings, videos or other on-demand learning materials. This content will also support the basis of interactive learning that takes place in on-campus classes.

The Graduate Certificate in Careers Education and Development is endorsed by the Career Industry Council of Australia (CICA).
On successful completion of the GC044 Graduate Certificate in Careers Education and Development degree you are eligible to seek professional registration with CICA and with CICA member organisations such as the Career Development Association of Australia (CDAA), Australian Centre for Career Education (ACCE)/(CEAV), National Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services (NAGCAS) and Careers Advisers Association of NSW (CAA).
In line with CICA endorsement processes this degree is re-accredited every three years.
The degree's teaching team is recognised within the careers industry as a long standing leader in the provision of professional training in career development and career counselling. Staff have extensive experience in career development and counselling in a variety of industry contexts and are highly experienced in online education.
The Graduate Certificate in Careers Education and Development is a preferred provider for skilling careers educators by the New South Wales Department of Education and Training (NSW DET) and the Victorian Department of Education and Training (DET).

Credit, recognition of prior learning, professional experience and accreditation from a professional body can reduce your study load by acknowledging your earlier, relevant experience.
Credit and exemptions will be assessed consistent with the principles of the RMIT Credit Policy.
Upon successful completion of this graduate certificate, you may be eligible to undertake further studies in related programs at RMIT University, including postgraduate programs, subject to the program's entrance requirements.

Eligible students (such as Australian citizens or holders of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa) may apply to defer payment of some or all of their tuition fees via the Commonwealth Government’s FEE-HELP loan scheme.
You may be eligible to apply to defer payment of the Student services and amenities fee (SSAF) through the SA-HELP loan scheme. If you use SA-HELP, the amount will be added to your accumulated HELP debt.
If your FEE-HELP and/or SA-HELP loan application is successful, the Australian Government will pay RMIT, on your behalf, up to 100% of your fees. This amount will become part of your accumulated HELP debt.
You only start repaying your accumulated HELP debt to the Australian Government once you earn above the minimum income threshold for repayment, which is set each year by the Australian Government (this also applies if you are still studying). The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) will calculate your compulsory repayment for the year and include this on your income tax notice.
