Learning and teaching

The Graduate Certificate in Cloud Applications in Business combines online learning with face-to-face sessions at our Melbourne City campus. This blended learning format is designed to accommodate working professionals, with a focus on real-world application and interactive learning.

Throughout this course, teaching formats may include guest lectures from industry experts, webinars, case studies and problem-based learning activities. You will engage in collaborative projects, participate in discussions and receive targeted feedback during live drop-in sessions.

You may work independently or with peers to design and implement cloud-based solutions, analyse industry case studies, develop business transformation strategies and create practical artifacts that can be added to your professional portfolio.

Assessment methods

Your assessment will typically come in the form of assignments and projects. These may be either research or problem-based, providing you with experience in effectively researching, writing and presenting your findings to a range of audiences. Your assignments will help develop your skills in communication and reasoning, and will offer you the opportunity to receive feedback on your learning and skills development.

You may also be assessed through written and oral exams, presentations, and in-class activities. You should expect to dedicate approximately 10 hours per week per subject.

The course aligns with RMIT’s flexi-term teaching periods (one subject per teaching period), allowing you to complete the course in 1 year as a part-time student.

The blended delivery mode combines synchronous and asynchronous learning modes. The synchronous may include lectures, tutorials and workshops, timetabled to suit professionals' schedules. Asynchronous learning will involve interactive activities, discussions and self-paced study materials accessible through the university's learning management system.

Entry requirements and admissions

You need to satisfy all of the following entry requirements to be considered for entry into this degree.

An Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent), or higher level qualification, in any discipline from a recognised tertiary institution.

If you do not meet the above entry requirement for the Graduate Certificate you may be considered if you have a minimum of 3 years' full-time equivalent work experience. Applicants will be required to submit a curriculum vitae (CV).

*If your qualification was completed more than 10 years ago you will need to provide evidence of ongoing professional work and/or professional development in the same discipline as the course for which you are seeking entry to be granted credit.

There are no prerequisite subjects required for entry into this qualification.

A selection task is not required for entry into this qualification.

You must meet the University's minimum English language requirements to be eligible for a place in this program.

You need to satisfy all of the following requirements to be considered for entry into this degree.

To study this course you will need to complete one of the following English proficiency tests:

  • IELTS (Academic): minimum overall band of 6.5 (with no individual band below 6.0)
  • TOEFL (Internet Based Test - IBT): minimum overall score of 79 (with minimum of 13 in Reading, 12 in Listening, 18 in Speaking and 21 in Writing)
  • Pearson Test of English (Academic) (PTE (A)): minimum score of 58 (with no communication band less than 50)
  • Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE): minimum of 176 with no less than 169 in any component.

Credit and recognition of prior learning

Credit, recognition of prior learning, professional experience and accreditation from a professional body can reduce the duration of your study by acknowledging your earlier, relevant experience.

Upon successful completion of this graduate certificate, you may be eligible for up to 48 credit points of exemption towards the Master of Business Information Technology.

SA-HELP Loans

You may be eligible to apply to defer payment of the Student services and amenities fee (SSAF) through the SA-HELP loan scheme. If you use SA-HELP, the amount will be added to your accumulated HELP debt.

How does a HELP loan work?

If your FEE-HELP and/or SA-HELP loan application is successful, the Australian Government will pay RMIT, on your behalf, up to 100% of your fees. This amount will become part of your accumulated HELP debt.

You only start repaying your accumulated HELP debt to the Australian Government once you earn above the minimum income threshold for repayment, which is set each year by the Australian Government (this also applies if you are still studying). The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) will calculate your compulsory repayment for the year and include this on your income tax notice.
