This training is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth Government funding.
This advanced diploma is tailored to provide specific knowledge and practical skills to train you to become an industry-accredited myotherapist.
The Advanced Diploma of Myotherapy is taught out of the RMIT Student Massage and Myotherapy clinics, offering treatments to RMIT staff, students and the public. Through this and other work placements, you will receive supervised training, making you work-ready at graduation.
With a focus on practical applications, you will enhance your client consultation practices, develop preventive management plans, and use evidence-based treatment protocols. Students will also develop advanced techniques to treat myofascial, joint and neuropathic pain from the nervous system.
At RMIT's teaching clinic, you'll be able to apply your practical skills and learn advanced business techniques needed to manage staff and run your own practice.
You will also have the opportunity to undertake a placement with one of RMIT's industry partners.
Please note: this advanced diploma is not available for international students intending to study on a student visa. If you are holding a temporary visa (other than a student visa) and your visa has a full study entitlement, you may be eligible to apply. For more information, see the international students with other temporary (non-student) visas.
RMIT's strong industry connections allow students to work with MS Plus and with elite athletes at Essendon AFLW.
Deepen your understanding of the musculoskeletal system and learn advanced treatment techniques like myofascial dry needling.
With supervised hands-on training at RMIT's myotherapy teaching clinic and other work placements, you'll graduate job-ready.
RMIT’s industry focus and emphasis on practical skills put me ahead. More than just reaching me the theory behind myotherapy, the hands-on experience allows me to become good at what I do.
You'll increase your skills with treatment methods, including deep tissue modalities, myofascial techniques, trigger-point therapy, dynamic cupping, myofascial dry needling, neurodynamic mobilisation, prescriptive and rehabilitation exercises, joint mobilisation, and pain management techniques.
Our myotherapy teaching clinic allows you to learn and gain experience in a simulated work environment. You will observe and practise under supervision.
Assessment consists of successful completion of all assessment activities as well as classroom, project and industry participation. It may also take place in a simulated work situation.
The types of classes you have will depend on the course you’re studying. Classes are offered in various formats designed to provide meaningful engagement with staff, industry and peers and provide for access and use of spaces where learning can be applied and active, including an array of specialised equipment.
Most RMIT courses do not include passive large-scale classes such as lectures, instead the content traditionally provided in lectures is made available online. This may be in the form of readings, videos or other on-demand learning materials. This content will also support the basis of interactive learning that takes place in on-campus classes.
RMIT offers work-integrated learning placements with MS Plus and Essendon AFLW.
