Dr Jonathan Leo Ng is a lecturer for Health, Physical Education and Sport and current Program Director for the Bachelor of Education. He was previously Program Director for the Bachelor of Health, Physical Education and Sport at the School of Education at RMIT University.
Jonathan has over 15 years of rich industry experience having worked with physical education and sport at school and policy levels. He was previously a Senior Curriculum Officer with the Ministry of Education (Singapore). He graduated with First-class honours from Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) and undertook his PhD on scholarship with the University of Otago (New Zealand) focusing on motor learning in the area of skill acquisition and the evaluation of movement competence.
The theory of Ecological Dynamics views human learning and performance as an interaction between complex systems. Jonathan's research is underpinned by Ecological Dynamics to inform policy and practice in education specifically in the areas of physical activity, land and aquatic-based movement competence, movement assessments and coaching development. His current projects focus on the use of learner-centric pedagogy to increase learner engagement, skills transferability and learning in representative environments.
