Dr Ying (Lena) Wang is an Associate Professor at the School of Management and a current Co-Director of Centre for Organisations and Social Change (COSC)
Dr Ying (Lena) Wang joined the School of Management, RMIT University in 2016. Before then, she was Lab Manager of Accelerated Learning Laboratory, and Lecturer at Business School and School of Psychology, University of Western Australia. Lena teaches in areas of organisational behaviour and human resource management. Specialising in organisational psychology, Lena's research focuses on understanding and fostering positive individual attributes and behaviours at work; and advancing organisational diversity and inclusion. Lena has published on top-tier journals including Journal of Applied Psychology, Annual Review of Organizational Psychology and Organizational Behavior, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology. She is a current Associate Editor at the journal Applied Psychology: An International Review, while also sitting on the Editorial Board of the journal Human Relations. She is a past co-editor of an award-winning book series, Advances in Global Leadership, published by Emerald. Lena has many years of consulting experience in areas including talent assessment and management, leadership training and development, and organisational capability development. She has attracted over $2 million external funding into universities. Lena has lived and worked in Australia, UK, US and China. Lena received a PhD in Work Psychology from University of Sheffield, UK, and MSc in Psychological Research Method and MA in Organisational Studies from University of Warwick, UK. Lena is certified for using a wide range of psychological assessment and training tools.
Industry Experience
Lena has been working closely with industry and government for almost two decades and has attracted over $2 million worth of external funding into universities. Since joining RMIT, she has been engaged in multiple projects funded by National Mental Health Commission, Department of Defence, Queensland Mental Health Commission, Victoria's Department of Premier and Cabinet, Victoria's Department of Families, Fairness and Housing, WorkSafe Victoria, among others, with a particular focus on developing fairer, healthier, and more inclusive organisations and industries. Before joining RMIT, she was Lab Manager at Accelerated Learning Laboratory, University of Western Australia (2011-2016), during which time she worked with a wide range of organisations in mining, oil and gas, construction, and the public sector, on leadership and organisational capability development. Prior to her postgraduate studies in the UK she was an Associate Consultant at Mobley Group Pacific in Shanghai, China (2004-2007), during which time she worked with numerous multinational corporations to provide consulting services in talent management, talent assessment and leadership development. She also worked briefly during 2009 as a consultant at Assessment Associates International in Minneapolis, Minnesota, U.S.
