CitiPower Future Women in Electrical Engineering Scholarship

This scholarship offered by CitiPower, Powercor and United Energy provides:

• $5,000 per year for up to three years (dependent upon academic performance)
• a 12-week paid work experience placement and/or a paid or unpaid Work Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunity in your penultimate year
• participation in a mentoring program at CitiPower, Powercor and United Energy.

Note: The CitiPower Future Women in Electrical Engineering Scholarship is regarded as taxable income under taxation legislation as there is an opportunity to undertake paid work with the donor. We recommend that you obtain taxation advice from an accountant or the Australian Tax Office regarding this scholarship.

To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

• identify as a woman
• be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, an Australian permanent resident or a permanent humanitarian visa holder
• be progressing to one of the following programs in semester 2 2024:
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical Engineering) (Honours) (BH075)
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Electronic and Computer Systems Engineering) (Honours) (BH073)
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Electronic and Computer Systems Engineering) (Honours) / Bachelor of Business (BH111)
• be transitioning from one of the following programs:
  • Advanced Diploma of Engineering Technology – Electrical (C6120)
  • Advanced Diploma of Electronics and Communications Engineering (C6178)
  • Associate Degree in Engineering Technology (AD026)
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (BH126)
  • Any other relevant Bachelor of Engineering program
• maintain a full-time study load for the duration of the scholarship (minimum 36 credit points per semester)
• have a Grade Point Average (GPA) to date of 2.5 or higher (for degree students only), or have gained competency in all enrolled courses (for diploma/advanced diploma students)
• be able to demonstrate high level communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills
• be available to participate in a 12-week paid work placement and/or a paid or unpaid Work Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunity at CitiPower, Powercor and United Energy in your penultimate year
• not be committed to another employer (except casual/part-time work) for the duration of the scholarship
• be willing to participate in a mentoring program at CitiPower, Powercor and United Energy
• be willing to participate in an interview, if shortlisted*

Depending on your circumstances, you will need to provide different types of evidence and material to support your scholarship application. Applications without supporting documents will not be considered.

You will need:

• A cover letter (no more than 1 page) describing why you would like to work for CitiPower, Powercor and United Energy

Application questions

It is expected that the online application will take approximately thirty minutes to complete. The main application questions are listed below to allow you time to prepare your answers in advance prior to starting the online application.

• What motivated you to choose your RMIT program? Include the steps you have taken to achieve your educational goals.
• What are your future plans and career aspirations?
• What current challenges do you face in your studies and how will a scholarship help you to overcome this?
• Describe and give examples of your communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
• Discuss your involvement in any extracurricular activities that you feel supports your application (e.g., community involvement, memberships, clubs and associations).
