Bond: Successful recipients will be required to pay a bond equal to 4 weeks rent prior to moving in, in line with the requirements of the Rental Tenancies Act (Vic.). This will be refunded at the end of the contract following an apartment inspection and clearance of all relevant payments to the accommodation provider.

The scholarship covers a portion of the weekly rent (which includes 24/7 reception, all utilities, fully furnished rooms, safety app, and curated lifestyle and wellness programs) at Scape. It does not include food, telephone, bond, bed and kitchen packs, activities or departure cleaning fees. At the end of the tenancy, students are required to pay a departure cleaning fee.

If a recipient chooses to break lease and terminate their tenancy agreement, they must continue paying all rent charges until a new resident can be secured or the contract ends, whichever comes first.

Quotes from past recipients:

I was overjoyed with the opportunity to receive this assistance. As a student moving interstate and my first time living in a city, I was quite nervous. However, the opportunity to be close to campus in my first year went a long way in giving me confidence in my decision.

- Samwell (2024 recipient)

When I found out about this scholarship, it meant that my aspirations of moving away to study were no longer just an idea, or something that I wanted to do, but knew it was a long shot. It was now coming to life and becoming a reality, which felt extremely intimidating, but incredibly exciting. Coming from a single income family I never really thought that this could be possible, to be able to study at a university in a different state, in one of Australia's largest cities, and to have find out that I could have this financial support made me feel incredibly grateful. Receiving this scholarship made me feel shocked, extremely excited and ready to start this new chapter. This scholarship meant that I would be able to leave my small regional home town and actually pursue my career choice at RMIT.

- Sophie (2024 recipient)
