My Deda (means mother in Georgian) is gone now, and my heart is shredded into pieces. I cannot think of a more difficult time in my life than losing a parent. While I am heartbroken, I am forever grateful for having her in my life. She highly valued higher education and spent every penny she earned from her hard work on our education.
In her loving memory and to honour her legacy, I am starting the “Deda Scholarship”. Annually, the fund will award a $5,000 scholarship to a postgraduate student of a health-related discipline for the duration of program, up to two years.
