A/Prof. Richard Tay is an internationally recognised expert in transport and road safety and serves on the editorial board of 18 academic journals. He is ranked in the top 1% worldwide and top 5 transport researchers in Australia (the only one who specialises in road safety). RMIT University was ranked sole first in the State of Victoria and sole second in Australia in Excellence in Research, Australia (ERA) in 2018. He had six grants from the Australian Research Council (ARC), five from the Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) of Canada, and two from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) if Canada. He has served on numerous international, national and state government taskforces, committees and advIsory panels. He also has served as a member of scientific committees for many international and national conferences.
