Dr Katrin (Kate) Gerber is an end-of-life researcher with a PhD in Psychology, working at the intersection of creative methods, mental health and end-of-life research. She is an socially engaged artist, feminist, and environmentalist.
As an international scholarship recipient, she completed her PhD at the University of Melbourne on end-of-life decision making. She has since researched and taught topics related to ageing, end-of-life care and mental health at the University of Melbourne, the University of Tasmania, Queensland University of Technology and the National Ageing Research Institute before joining RMIT University in 2024.In acknowledgement of her work, she was nominated for a National Palliative Care Award as an emerging researcher in 2019. Her passion for end-of-life research stems from her work as a hospice volunteer and her personal experience as a family caregiver.
