Starting a club

Learn how to start a club or society affiliated with RMIT Student Life.

Starting a Student Life club or society is a great way to make like-minded friends, engage with the RMIT community and learn life-long skills of management and organisation. 

Any students wanting to start a club with the RMIT Student Union (RUSU) should first visit the RUSU website. 

Steps to starting a Student Life club

There are some basic requirements to start a club with RMIT Student Life, these include the following:
 

1. Find members

  • Have at least 15 interested people, of which at least 10 must be current RMIT students.
  • Make sure to get their name and student numbers!

2. Find committee members

  • Have at least four (4) people interested in being on the committee to run the club.
  • Here are the positions that have to be filled in your club committee: 
    • President.
    • Vice President.
    • Secretary.
    • Treasurer.

3. Talk to the RMIT Student Life Clubs Team

  • Make a time to catch up with the Club Program Coordinator.
  • You can set up a time by emailing clubs@rmit.edu.au.
     

4. Complete the required paperwork

New clubs are required to submit the following (log in required):

5. Finalising your club

After your paperwork is approved. Your club is almost ready to go. The following will be created for your club:

  • Bank account.
  • Email.
  • Website.
