STAFF PROFILE
Dr Xiaobo Chen
Associate Professor Dr. Xiao-Bo Chen, was awarded his PhD from Deakin University in 2009 for his work on Materials Science and Engineering and then joined the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Monash University as Postdoctoral Research Fellow, DECRA Research Fellow and Senior Research Fellow. After joined RMIT early 2017, Dr. Chen has been working in a number of roles of Senior Vice-Chancellor Research Fellow, Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor, all based in the School of Engineering at City Campus.
His research aims to provide functional characteristics to the surface of light metals to meet the requirements for a large range of engineering applications in automotive, 3C and biomedical industries. It includes the development of surface modification and coating knowledge and techniques for high-performance biomaterials; and corrosion mechanisms of commercial and new metals in a variety of engineering services. Xiao-Bo is also serving as the HDR Manager for the Manufacturing, Materials and Mechatronics discipline to facilitate both PhD and Masters by Research programs with productive performance and timely completions.
