I lead a research & teaching program focusing on measuring the natural capital of our precious ecosystems. I work predominantly on marine and freshwater ecosystems; from kelp forests to saltmarsh and swamps. My work focuses on developing novel methods to measure ecosystem change, value their services and applying these in the real-world through on-ground restoration projects, or assessing opportunities for improved management and restoration. I use standardized international frameworks such as the UN System of Environmental Economic Accounting (SEEA), which means data is structured and comparable across areas.
If you want to get involved in making nature count, please reach out to discuss how we may work together to value, manage and restore ecosystems!
