About

Dr Kazi Hasan delivers industry/research projects, disseminates research findings, and teaches at RMIT University university, generally in Electrical Engineering, particularly in Electrical Power and Energy Systems Engineering.

Dr Hasan designed and has been delivering the Smart Grids course at RMIT University at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels since 2022. Before joining RMIT Univesity in 2018, Dr Hasan was involved in a 13-nation European Union-funded H2020 (CROSSBOW) project at the University of Manchester, UK. From 2014 to 2018, he contributed to delivering three projects – one funded by Electricity North West Ltd.  UK and two funded by the EPSRC (Research Council), UK.

Dr Hasan's research focus and expertise are on the integration of new energy technologies (renewable energy, EV, demand response, GFM inverter) into power grids, particularly emphasising power system dynamics, reliability, flexibility, and economy. He has published 40+ top-class journal papers and presented at 50+ international conferences and seminars in Australia, Bangladesh, Bulgaria, Canada, Fiji, France, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Ireland, Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Thailand, the UK, and the USA.

Dr Hasan is a senior member of IEEE and currently serves as the vice chair of IEEE PES Victorian Chapter, Australia.

Dr Hasan has been involved in teaching/tutoring and assessment at the University of Manchester, UK, Sheffield Hallam University, UK, University of Queensland, Australia and the University of Tasmania, Australia for BSc and MSc courses, which include Power System Analysis, Power System Modelling, Analysis of Electrical Power and Energy Conversion Systems, Power Electronics, Electrical Machines, Supply and Distribution, and Power System Dynamics and Quality of Supply.
