Dr Xiaoshan (Susanna) Lin is an Associate Professor and an Australian Research Council Future Fellow. Her primary research focuses on concrete and composite materials and structures, with specific interests in (i) advanced numerical methods for concrete and composite materials and structures, (ii) innovative design and application of cementitious materials and structures, and (iii) new approaches to fabricating free-form structural elements. As a chief investigator, she has secured multiple competitive research grants, including ARC Future Fellowship, Discovery Projects, and funding from the Victorian government and industry partners.
Dr Lin serves as an Editor for Construction and Building Materials, a top-ranked Elsevier journal in construction materials. She is also an Editorial Board Member for Engineering Structures, a leading journal in structural engineering, and actively contributes to several other prestigious journals in the field. She has successfully supervised 13 PhD students and 1 Master by Research student to completion.
Her contributions to research have been globally recognised, including her inclusion in the World’s Top 2% Scientists (2024), election as an IAAM Fellow (2023) by the International Association of Advanced Materials, and receiving the HDR Supervision Award (2023) from RMIT STEM College.
Dr Lin obtained her PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of New South Wales in 2012. Before joining RMIT as a Lecturer in 2016, she held postdoctoral research positions at the University of Liverpool in the UK, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, and the University of New South Wales in Australia.
